The Hatteras Island Inn is in a quiet, serene village in the Outer Banks — but you may be surprised by how many activities and attractions are within a short walk or drive of your room. Explore the historic Cape Hatteras Light Station and check the National Park Service for current access. If sport fishing is your passion, you cannot do much better than the waters off Cape Hatteras. You can also visit the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum in Hatteras Village and learn about the shipwrecks that earned this area its name.
More than 70 percent of the island remains in its natural barrier-island state, thanks to Cape Hatteras National Seashore and the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge — so surfing, windsurfing, shipwreck diving and plenty of other outdoor activities are all close by too.
